Calling all computer Gamers to form a Clan...
by Confucious inhey guys, .
anyone here a gamer???
world of warcraft is coming out soon.
-
Happy Guy :)
I just asked him.....It is Counter Strike that he plays....Heard of that one?? I know Counter-strike or CS as they call it. My son was in a "clan" and I payed for their monthly server and voice server and website forums for about a year. They did quite well and joined the Cyber Athletic League and advanced there playing against teams for all over the world. It sure has come a long way since my days of Pong and Asteroids and Space Invaders and Pac Man. I even got him a special PC for gaming and I like it more than mine because it's so much better for graphics and sound. Fun stuff !

Could use some advice
by missy04 incould you guys give me some advice?...
i may or may not vote..i was wondering if it really would be "being part of the world" to vote??.
i know what the witnesses' take on it is, but i won't base my decision on that.

When I turned 18 and started voting it gave me a very good feeling because I was excercising my rights as a citizen. Now, two decades later, I wish there was a box on the ballot that says "None of the Above" because that would be my pick everytime.
Good luck with you first time voters...go excercize your rights!

i'm very surprised i'm the only one here to have any ideas about this wt child molestion case? and even listen to the tape and can come with some feelings. i'm learning a lot listening to this tape. i only hope some others will join in. john I am sure others will comment Johnny. I plan on listening to it on the weekend when I can pay attention to the legal arguments. One thing is certain, overturning lower court decisions is an up hill battle. I only hope that the connection was made between the extreme control the WT has through the elders to keep internal matters concealed. If the lawyer was successfull in demonstrating the depth that the control exists and connects that to other religious instituions taking legal and financial responsibility world wide (often by force) then maybe there's a shot a breaking through that notion that the WT seems to think they have a broad licence to abuse minors and keep it a secret.

There was a lot that the judge in the Boer trial just didn't get but I admire her for her efforts in trying to give Vicki every opportunity despite Vicki having such a lousy attorney (...who was recommended by Frank)
I think the rational for Frank recommending Charles Mark is becuase Mark had experience at the Appeal court level which would have been important in this case since it would have been appealed had the WT losssed.I have always been curious about this whole connection though because Sarah gave testimony (under oath) in front of a Legal Investigation that, in her opinion, her father saved Glen Howe and Watchtower Legal's ass (I am paraphrasing) with the Shelburne sex abuse scandal. I don't recall her elaborating on that point.

What's being done in Sudan?
by Preston inby my question, i mean, "what has any country, any group, or any individual" really done in sudan, not strictly from an interventionist stadpoint per se.
i just don't see countries besides the us take any concern as to what's happening.
does anyone really care?

A number of countries have been sending emergency food and medicine. Diplomatic efforts are also being made through a number of countries to resolve the humanitarian issue there.

QUIRKS; what are yours?
by Terry innot everybody is quirky.
but, we all know people who are....really...really quirky.. in school you can call them nerds.
in society we can avoid them, make fun of them and laugh.. but, each of us have certain quirks.
-
Happy Guy :)
What is your quirk? What are your quirks?
Terry, I noticed you asking for us to share our quirks. You have even provided your wife's quirk. What is your quirk Terry? After all it's your thread.
Mine is JWs knocking at the door and lying about their beliefs just to try and get a new convert. My quirk is to trip them up verbally. No I'm just joking. There was a time when I got a kick out of that but it got boring after a while. Now I just politely tell them to keep on walking.
I don't think I have a quirk. Hold on a second I do. I constantly complain about drivers. I can't stand driving anymore everyone is so rude and do not respect the rules of the road. Where I live it's getting very dangerous to drive. If I ever have enough funds one day I will hire myself a full time driver so I can relax when I'm out and about.

Hindsight is 20/20
by Capn Jack ini have been watching this website for a while and havent posted much, but i have gained alot of insight into my own head and life.
i was born jw and pioneered and all that good stuff, didnt get out until i was 23. didnt know what to do so i started drinking and using all sorts of illegal substances.
i would talk all night to people about the 'dubs and how f****d up they are, probably bored alot of people.

I like the title for your thread.....so true. Much congratulations to you on kicking your substance abuse problems.
When I was young my grandmother gave me a nice picture in a frame and it had a prayer under the picture that said:
God please grant me:
The strength to change the things I can;
The serenity accept the things I can't change; and,
The wisdom to know the difference.
The above has always been a challenge for me in life. I have found that "letting go" of the past has been instrumental in moving forward. Doesn't mean you have to ignore the lessons of the past or learn from mistakes it just means you leave the luggage behind.
If you can find a very good psychologist to help you let go I certainly recommend it.
